"The theme for this song developed as I drove to an interview in Boiling Springs, NC. When I crossed Golightly Creek, it seemed that the well manicured horse farms changed to a scene of dogwood trees in bloom with ‘double wide’ houses in their midst. I thought of someone going home for the holidays and reaching their ‘comfort zone’ after crossing the creek and finding familiar surroundings.”

Going back to the place I was born
Passing those elegant thoroughbred farms
I don’t find the peace that I seek
Til I cross over Golightly Creek

Dogwoods and doublewides, kids in the yard
Back to a time where life was real hard
But I don’t find the peace that I seek
Til I cross over Golightly Creek

White board fences and pastures so green
Neat and well cared for, no children seen
But I don’t find the peace that I seek
Til I cross over Golightly Creek

Easy to say, it’s less than before
A trickle of water used to be more
Silence says all that I couldn’t speak
Heavy hearts lighter cross Golightly Creek

Dogwoods and doublewides, y’all come on in
Family and loved ones, bring all your friends
I don’t find the peace that I seek
Til I cross over Golightly Creek

I don’t find the peace that I seek
Til I cross over Golightly Creek.
