It started out as just another of her ideas,
like everything does according to the books
And though she knows there's nothing to be afraid of,
she's a bit scared to leave the world she knows
She's been telling all the people she has met,
and she needs the support that she can get
They all say the first step is the hardest one to take,
no turning back now her pride is at stake

She's been dreaming of the trees out in the forest,
they're all growing, growing where they have their roots
She won't be here when autumn leaves appear,
when darkness comes and wind begins to howl

She won't be around when snow covers the ground,
'cause she'll be moving westwards for a while

She is moving far away from her old friends,
but don't they like her, 'cause they all tell her to go
She's been to places most people will never see,
and maybe that's why she hesitates to leave

Still she's thinking of her dream about the trees,
that is growing where they have their roots
